A shooting at a downtown Winnipeg residence on Sunday morning left three people dead and two injured.
The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m, arriving after reports of gunshots. Upon arriving, police located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds; both victims were taken to hospital in critical condition.
It was later reported that a third victim had succumbed to their injuries. Paramedics and police officers are continuing to search the area for possible additional victims.
At this stage it is still unclear what the suspected motivation for the shooting was. Police have identified an individual as a suspect, however no arrests have been made as of yet.
The WPS is continuing to investigate the incident and encouraging anyone who may have witness the shooting or have information to come forward.
The tragedy has been a shock to the community, and the families of those involved. Many have taken to social media to express their disbelief and outrage at the violence.
While violence of this nature is rare in Winnipeg, this incident has exemplified how quickly such an occurrence can take place in any city or town. Residents and authorities alike are hoping that justice will be served and the victims can be properly mourned in due time.
