Brunswick Exploration is thrilled to announce the recent discovery of a spodumene-bearing pegmatite at the Elrond project. The discovery was made after several weeks of intensive exploration programs. This new discovery provides further validation of spodumene-bearing pegmatite zones and allows the company to move forward with further investigation.
Spodumene is a lithium-bearing mineral typically found in granites and pegmatites. It is used to manufacture lithium-ion batteries and other high-tech products. It is also valuable for its ornamental use in lapidary applications.
At the Elrond project, spodumene was first noted to occur in abundance during surface mapping and geochemical sampling. This was further confirmed through the drilling program and chemical and petrographic analyses.
The spodumene-bearing pegmatite zone has been mapped over an area of approximately 500 square meters and is open in all directions. To date, Brunswick Exploration has completed three exploration boreholes, two of which have intersected the mineralized pegmatite zone. The results show good continuity of the zone, demonstrating that it could potentially host high grade material.
Moving forward, Brunswick Exploration will continue to explore the area with a combination of geochemistry and geophysics and is excited to be able to the potential for the Elrond project. The most promising areas will be scheduled for additional drilling to define the extents and grades of the mineralization.
