Honda has recalled more than 2.5 million cars over an issue with the car’s fuel pump system. According to Honda, the vehicles are at risk of stalling if the fuel pump stops working. Honda traced the issue to certain types of fuel pumps that were supplied by an outside manufacturer.
The recalled vehicles were mostly sold in the United States, but a few were sold internationally. The models being recalled include the Honda Civic, Accord, CR-V, Fit, Pilot, and Odyssey. The majority of the vehicles were built between 2010 and 2015, however, some of them date back to 2001.
Honda has urged owners to take their vehicles to a Honda dealer for repairs. Honda will replace the faulty fuel pump with a new one at no cost to the owner. Honda also said that they are aware of one accident that occurred due to this issue, but did not specify any details.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently reviewing this recall and determine if other vehicles need to be recalled. Honda has also offered to cover the cost of any repairs that are required due to the faulty fuel pump.
