The saga between the president and his former attorney Michael Cohen continues, as Trump and Cohen met up one more time in the middle of Cohen’s civil fraud trial.
This latest meeting was said to be an informal chat that took place in the lobby of a New York City courthouse. This meeting came as a huge surprise for the public, as the two men have been feuding since Cohen became a key witness in the Special Counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential Election.
The was first reported by The New York Times, which said that the two men had spoken for several minutes and that they exchanged pleasantries. Cohen is currently serving a three-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to campaign-finance violations, tax fraud and lying to Congress. The charges were related to payments made to two women who alleged to have had affairs with the President.
The pair have been at odds since Cohen began cooperating with the Special Counsel’s investigation which, amongst other things, looked into attempts by the Trump campaign to benefit from the Russian government’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. The investigation is now said to be complete and its findings will soon be presented to the Attorney General of the United States.
The two men’s apparent reunion comes ahead of what is expected to be an explosive hearing on the findings of the report.
